British mobile users spend £200 a year on their smartphones

    New research released today has revealed how mobile shopping is taking off among UK consumers: four out

    of ten smartphone owners (42%) have bought something on their phones – and they spent an average of £199

    over 2013. Five years ago the spend was £122 meaning m-commerce has increased by 63% since 2008.

    Shoppers use their phones to take photos of products for future research, to compare prices and to research

    product information. Half of all smartphone users admitted that they bought the phone with shopping in

    mind.
